CHANGE TO CONSULTATION ON PROPOSED NEW COMMUNITY AT POINT COOK WEST

The
Growth Areas Authority has altered its public consultation program for Point Cook West Precinct Structure Plan to ensure residents have access to the most relevant information about plans for an exciting residential community in the area.

Heightened community interest in an informal information session scheduled for Tuesday 31 January had the potential to prevent residents from having their questions answered personally. Consequently, the information session will not go ahead as the GAA looks to canvass the community’s views in a series of pre-arranged sessions or direct contact.
Residents can discuss the PSP over the phone by contacting the GAA directly or they can arrange a direct meeting with the GAA.

Please contact GAA Planning Innovation Manager Simon Cotterill on (03) 9651 9600 or via email at simon.cotterill@gaa.vic.gov.au to discuss the PSP in more detail or make an appointment.

MODEL PLANNING PERMIT CONDITIONS LAUNCHED

The Growth Areas Authority has taken another step towards streamlining planning processes by delivering a new set of model planning permit conditions to assist growth area municipalities issuing planning permits for residential subdivision in approved precinct structure plan locations.

GAA CEO Peter Seamer launched the conditions at an industry function last night. Mr Seamer said the Growth Areas Model Planning Permit Conditions were another step in delivering planning reform for Melbourne’s newest suburbs.

Developed by the Growth Areas Authority in partnership with the seven growth area councils, state authorities and the development industry, the model permit conditions provide users with a standard set of conditions to be used to implement precinct structure plans.

DEMONSTRATION PROJECT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE GROWTH AREAS

The Growth Areas Authority seeks expressions of interest from developers and industry bodies to enter a partnership to deliver projects to promote employment in the growth areas.

Project proposals must illustrate excellence in urban design and planning to create jobs.

Developers or consortiums must have a parcel of appropriately zoned land in Melbourne's growth areas, within the Cardinia, Casey, Hume, Melton, Mitchell, Whittlesea or Wyndham local government areas.
