Casey-Cardinia

Casey–Cardinia includes the suburbs of Cranbourne, Pakenham and Officer.  It is one of  the fastest developing growth area and by 2031 Casey is expected to accommodate around 403,314 people  (City of Casey website) and Cardinia which is currently growing by an average of five families a day, will house a total of 157,035 people and to grow to between 100,000 and 140,000 jobs.

Located to the south east of central Melbourne, the growth area is benefiting from its proximity to major transport infrastructure as well as significant natural features including the Dandenong Ranges and Western Port which constrain long-term outward expansion.

Key developers in the region include Australand, Brown Property Group, Stockland, VicUrban, Delfin-Lend Lease, Dennis Family Corporation, Peet and Villawood currently working on 26 projects and the median land price in Cardinia Shire is $169,000 and in Casey $220,000, according to the Oliver Hume Real Estate Group  (June 2010).

The growth area has the added benefit of development opportunities around two electrified railway lines that converge on Dandenong Transit City, as well as the Monash/Princes and South Gippsland freeways, connecting Casey-Cardinia to Gippsland, Phillip Island, the Mornington Peninsula and greater Melbourne.

The growth area is becoming a thriving urban-rural economy, with vibrant communities where you can walk to the shops, jobs or transport. Housing and community buildings will be designed to minimise water and power use.

Activity centres will contain secondary and tertiary education campuses, hospitals and a choice of affordable housing styles and sizes, with most households within walking distance of public transport.
