Melton-Caroline Springs

Melton East
is growing strongly too and includes Caroline Springs and Taylors Hill. It will also become an employment hub with the development of the Toolern Employment Node, which will create up to 25,000 jobs.

The region is also important for its substantial areas of valuable agricultural land to the north-east of Melton township, and its rich natural features such as Kororoit Creek, Mount Kororoit, Mount Cottrell, various grassland areas and valuable stone resources. These will be protected in long-term planning for the region.

Employment is forecast to grow by between 20,000 and 25,000 jobs.

Toolern will effectively double the size of Melton's township.  Located to the south east of Melton, it will comprise approximately 1,900 hectares of land with two thirds allocated for residential and one third for employment.  It will include a 760 hectare Toolern Business Park that will provide the impetus for Melton's growth as a self-sustaining city. Some development will be centred on a brand new 100 hectare regional park showcasing remnant native vegetation and creek corridors.  There is also a new railway station proposed.  For more information about this PSP please visit the Toolern page.

Taylors Hill West, located north of Caroline Springs, will be a new 200 hectare residential community. The development could provide regional open space facilities for recreation as well as some local retail.

Macpherson, to the north of Melton township, will comprise a 50 hectare residential development with local retail and community facilities.

Robinsons Road is a new 400 hectare employment precinct, next to the Deer Park Bypass, connecting to the Western Highway. There will be a range of lot sizes for a mix of industries at this strategic location.
