Merrifield Employment Area to the north of the growth area covers over 420 hectares of prime employment land, forming an attractive new gateway to Melbourne.  Rather than seeing the back of industrial buildings, the focus is on development set within a highly landscaped environment - making the most of the Kallkallo Creek wetlands.  People will have much better access to jobs in the north, with manufacturers locating alongside corporate headquarters and smaller operators.

Adjoining Merrifield is the Folkstone Employment Area, covering an additional 330 hectares of high quality employment land.

Craigieburn is a large site comprising more than a thousand hectares and has developed into a substantial mixed use community. Major developments are underway and the GAA is working with Hume Council to complete structure planning and land release for the remainder of the Craigieburn and Greenvale areas.

Craigieburn Town Centre comprises 72 hectares of land for a large mixed use activity centre. The existing Craigieburn Station precinct will focus on entertainment, education and community facilities, while the new town centre will provide residential, retail, health services and significant employment opportunities.
